Keeping in Touch During COVID-19

Keeping in Touch During Covid-19

Though we cannot all be together physically, it is important that we stay connected! This page will frequently be updated with a devotional from one of our elders or pastors, some updates from our missionaries and an encouragement through music. We hope you find this helpful in your daily walk and family devotionals during the time of separation.

2020 A messagealex

How do Christians find joy in the midst of difficulties? That’s the question Peter is answering in 1 Peter 1:6-7.

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith – more precious than gold that perishes thought it is tested by fire – may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Christians can rejoice during trials because we know they are preparing us for a salvation that will be revealed in the future. Peter doesn’t pretend that life as a Christian will be easy, nor that we will be free from difficulties now that we are in Christ. Rather, he helps us understand that God is using the trials of this life to expose our remaining sinful tendencies and perspectives.

Whether it is the fires of persecution or the uncertainty of unemployment, Christians can feel the weight of this world’s trials in ways that produce fear, anger, jealousy, or doubt. But God uses those trials to help us see clearly where we need to run to Christ and learn to trust him.

In that way, trials, though still painful, become a reason for rejoicing. So, as you face the difficulties of life in an uncertain world, ask that God would use them to draw you closer to him, strengthen your faith, and prepare you for the salvation he is bringing.

2020 MissionaryUpdate

Many of our missionaries that are on the front lines are experiencing very unique and challenging circumstances during this time. Below are some updates from around the world from some of our missionaries. Take time today to pray for them and their ministries.

From the Pewetts (Spain)

Here in Madrid, even amidst quarantine, general uncertainty and fear, there is still much that is positive. Circumstances like these cause people to think and ask questions in a different way. Some have called our colleagues asking about God’s forgiveness and help in the midst of paralyzing fear.

Each day so much changes. Today marks the beginning of a “state of alert” in Spain. This is different here than what the President declared in the US, because it's more restrictive to our daily lives. We expect even more restrictions in the days to come.

Our prayer is that God will teach us how to see our life in Madrid with a different view than what comes naturally. Our second prayer is that people will be open to God in a way they have never been before as a result of this crisis, and that He will show us how to share His hope and peace in this very new season.

From the Standridges (preparing for service in Italy)

The situation is Italy is very difficult. Italy has the most deaths related to the coronavirus anywhere on earth. The country simply doesn’t have enough beds or ventilators at the hospitals to deal with all the sick and are having to choose who to treat. Everyone is on lockdown - people can only leave the house to get groceries or to go to work or the hospital.

Amid the crisis, evangelical churches are doing a great job. My father has done an incredible job reaching out to his congregation for encouragement as well as neighbors for evangelism.

Please pray that the Italian people, though usually hostile towards conversations about spiritual things, would have their hearts softened to want to hear the Gospel. Please pray for us that despite the current issues we will be able to raise support and be able to move to Italy this summer to bring the Gospel to such a needy country!

2020 SharingtheGospelathome

Many of us are getting to spend a unique amount of time at home. Our families are our first mission field. Whether you have little ones, teenagers, empty nesters, single or in a later stage in life, the truths found in this wonderful discussioin between Jordan Standridge and Tedd Tripp will help you in being clearer in how you share your faith!

We serve a great and wonderful God! We hope these updates and thoughts have been an encouragement to you. We will be updating this page frequently with more devotionals, helpful videos and prayer requests from our missionaries.

We miss worshipping together on Sunday mornings. For now, we will continue our Live Stream at 9:30am on Sunday mornings but we want to leave you with a highlight from all of the many people that serve so faithfully in our choir and orchestra. May this bring you joy as we worship God today!
