Fundamentals of the Faith

Fundamentals of the Faith

The Fundamentals of the Faith (FoF) is a two semester course, designed to bring you into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ by establishing you in the elemental truths of Christianity. Based on published discipleship curriculum (The Fundamentals of the Faith, Moody Publishers, 2009), FoF Part 1 will explore the first six lessons from the published curriculum and focus on the Scriptures, God the Father, God the Son, and salvation.  FoF Part 2 will address the Holy Spirit and various aspects of the Christian life. Your study will include the following:

  • Assignments from The Fundamentals of the Faith published curriculum.
  • Companion messages by Dr. John MacArthur (on MP3 CD).
  • Live teaching and discussion with trained FoF teachers (13 weeks).
  • Comprehensive Bible college level discussion notes (175 pages).

Each week we will discuss topics which answer questions such as: Who is God and what is He like?  How can Jesus be 100% God and 100% man?  What is the Bible, and how did we get it?  What is necessary for salvation?  Who is the Holy Spirit and wat are spiritual gifts? Is formal church membership important? How does God guide? These and many more issues will be discussed in class

Spring 2020 Course

Sundays 8:00 a.m., Room B207, begins 1/26;
Tom Joyce & Bob Hartman
($10/ person)

Whether you are a seeker, new believer, or a Christian wanting theological grounding, FoF 1 and FoF 2 explores the basic questions: Who is God and what is He like? How can Jesus be 100% God and 100% man? What is salvation, why do we need it, and what is necessary for salvation?

Picking up where Part 1 left off, FoF Part 2 focuses on growth in the Christian life, exploring the person and work of the Holy Spirit, the church, spiritual gifts, prayer, evangelism, service and God’s guidance. This course continues to utilize the Fundamentals of the Faith (Moody Press) curriculum, audio messages by Dr. John MacArthur and classroom discussion with comprehensive notes to build believers and future leaders at Immanuel. Note that while we recommend that FoF 1 & 2 be taken in sequence, students may take FoF 2 first, and follow up with FoF 1 in the fall. (13 weeks) For more information, contact Bob Hartman, 703-813-1955.
