The Master's Seminary Extension at Immanuel Bible Church

gold tms logoThe Master’s Seminary is offering a Master of Divinity degree in the Washington D.C. area. This educational program takes place in an environment of spiritual fellowship and lifelong relationships which emphasize the worship of God, submission to the authority of Scripture, a life of personal holiness, the priority of the local church, and reaching the world with the gospel. Classes are taught on the beautiful campus of Immanuel Bible Church, located a few miles south of our nation’s capital in Springfield, Virginia.

A critical component to education at The Master’s Seminary is the spiritual growth and development that occurs through fellowship and church service. All TMS students are required to be active in their own local churches, and to underscore this, all TMS classes are held on church campuses that model a biblical philosophy of ministry for the students.

The Master’s Seminary is known for its high standard and quality of education, provided by an exceptional faculty—each member brings extensive academic and pastoral experience. Because the D.C. location is served by this same faculty—located on the main campus in Los Angeles—students receive that same quality of instruction. Moreover, to ensure that students have a measured approach to their learning, most of the courses will not be o ered in a modular format.

IMMANUEL BIBLE CHURCH

A critical component to TMS education is the spiritual formation that occurs through fellowship and church-service. All TMS students are required to be active in their own local churches, and to underscore this, all TMS classes are held on the campus of a church that models a biblical philosophy of ministry for the students.

Jesse Johnson, the teaching pastor of Immanuel Bible Church (IBC), serves as the dean of our D.C. location. Jesse came to IBC in 2012, and previously served as an adjunct faculty member of The Master’s Seminary, as well as at Christ Baptist Seminary in South Africa. He is a graduate of TMS (Th.M., M.Div.) and the University of New Mexico (B.A.).

MASTER OF DIVINITY DEGREE

The Master of Divinity curriculum provides a basic four-year program in graduate theological education for those preparing for church or mission vocations requiring ordination. The program is designed to provide a broad biblical, theological, and practical foundation for those entering pastoral, missionary, or other Christian-education ministries. The program also provides a basis for further graduate study, such as Master of Theology (Th.M.), Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

COURSE DELIVERY

Courses are taught at Immanuel Bible Church in classrooms specially outfitted for academic instruction using;

  • Professors teaching in person on the IBC campus
  • Professors teaching via web-based conferencing from the seminary’s main campus in Los Angeles. This includes real-time assimilation and interaction for students in both locations.
  • Pre-recorded teaching (produced especially for students) at the IBC campus with a class moderator.
