Mission Statement: Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

Program Emphasis: AHG believes in “progressive programming”; this means that everything you do in AHG should be appropriate to your age and ability.

The six areas that make up the program emphases are:

  • Life Skill Enhancement
  • Developing Teamwork and Building Confidence
  • Social Development
  • Girl Leadership
  • Character Development and
  • Spiritual Development.

In the past year VA1115 has participated in Wreaths Across America, including the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, and the Adopt-A-Soldier program, sending gift boxes to local service men and women deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. Our girls also sent cards of encouragement to our Wounded Warriors at Ft. Belvoir. Two of our Patriot girls planned a multi-troop lock-in for January, inviting six local troops to come and join us at IBC to earn their Daughter of the King badge. In May, a Patriot girl planned the Father/Daughter dance, working with a guest speaker and an amazing caterer to give our girls a special night with their dads! We also invited the IBC Home Educators group to join us for that event.

Over the course of the past year, our various levels have also earned the Citizenship and Government badge, the Cooking badge, the Fire Building and Fire Safety badge, and the Insect-A Inspect-A badge. This summer, at the annual AHG Day Camp, our Pioneer and Patriot girls will be leading the Tenderheart and Explorer girls in earning their Textile Arts and Dance badges. And this spring a group of IBC Elders and Pastors taught the religious award program to a number of our girls.

You may be wondering why AHG and not Girl Scouts? The AHG program is Christ-centered and allows girls to learn leadership skills and faith values.

AHG also offers the Stars and Stripes Award for our Patriot girls. Troop VA1115 is proud to have presented the Stars and Stripes Award to the 2nd Virginia recipient.
